The floating name tag from above your head, for any name

This makes the little name label that floats over a player or a named mob in Minecraft. It uses the real game font with the pixel drop shadow, the see-through dark box, and the exact 1-pixel padding the game draws around the text. Type a name and it renders live.

The download is a transparent PNG with only the tag on it, so you can slap it over someone's head in a thumbnail or an edit and it lines up. I built it because pasting a real screenshot of a name tag never has the name you actually want.

How to make a Minecraft name tag

  1. Type the name. It updates as you type.
  2. Pick a color if you want. White is the normal player tag. The other 14 are the classic Minecraft colors.
  3. Leave box opacity at 25% to match the game, or slide it down to zero for just the floating text.
  4. Bump the pixel size up if you want a bigger, higher-res image.
  5. Hit Download PNG for a transparent tag, or JPG if you need it on a solid color.
